First, there was “How to tie a tie.” Now, a second tutorial is up. Building on his viral YouTube video that fans dug up years ago, Boston Celtics star Jayson Tatum is now teaching everyone the art of tying shoelaces.

“11, 12 years later, and we’re back,” Tatum said, smiling. “First it was ‘How to tie a tie,’ and clearly you guys loved that. So now we’re here with the JT 2 Vortexes. For all those who don’t know how to tie a shoe, or are looking for a different way to tie a shoe, this is how I tie my shoe.”

For more context, once the forward’s career started gaining traction, fans dug up an old YouTube video of a teenage Jayson Tatum, who gave the general public instructions on how to properly put on a necktie.

The comments were hilarious.

“Tatum definitely forgot the password for this account,” one user commented.

“You seem quite tall, have you ever tried playing basketball young sir?” another added.

“This kid is so nice, he'd never join the NBA and dunk on LeBron (James),” said another user, referencing Tatum’s viral slam on James back in his rookie year.

“Man…I feel like this kid could have a 50-point playoff game.”

Fast forward years later and that teenage kid is now one of the league’s biggest stars. The current face of the Celtics franchise, Tatum is in the midst of his seventh playoff appearance. The forward is averaging 26.9 points, 8.1 rebounds and 4.9 assists per game as he and the Celtics continue the search for Banner 18.

It’s been a successful yet heartbreaking road. While Tatum does have five All-Star appearances and an amount of postseason exposure that most players his age would long for, that elusive NBA title seems so near yet so far. The closest he reached to winning it all was during the 2022 playoffs, when the Celtics made the NBA finals. However, they would bow out in six games.

Before this season ensued, the Celtics made waves by acquiring Kristaps Porzingis and Jrue Holiday through trades. It’s been nothing short of a blessing, as Boston wound up with 64 wins in their 82-game campaign. With those two alongside Tatum, Jaylen Brown and Derrick White, the Celtics’ starting lineup has been a nightmare for opponents.

Can 2024 finally be Boston’s year? It’s too early to tell, but at the moment, the team is looking like a top contender. They just eliminated the Miami Heat in five games and are waiting for the winner of the Cleveland Cavaliers-Orlando Magic series.

12 more wins to go. It won’t be easy, but it’ll surely be worth it if all the stars align this year.
