At one point, it looked like the Los Angeles Lakers were going to steal a game from the Denver Nuggets at Ball Arena. Anthony Davis put on a masterclass against the Nikola Jokic-led squad and got his team up by 20 points. However, it was just not fate for the team out of California to tie the NBA Playoffs series. LeBron James had a look for three but just could not find the bottom of the net. The next part? Well, Jamal Murray gave his home crowd a moment to remember with a game-winner.

The series now heads to Los Angeles as the Lakers are down two games to none. While there is a lot to look forward to because they now get homecourt advantage, the faithful were still overwhelmed with emotions and just had to let it out.

“The Lakers could be up 30+ on Denver and I still wouldn't feel comfortable,” a user wrote.

Another member of the Lakers faithful was just fed up about how the squad keeps getting beat by the Nuggets, “I already got used to the Nuggets whooping the Lakers a**** for almost two years. Kudos to the Lakers for not ducking Denver when they should’ve, but they’re not winning this series. I have the Nuggets winning in five, but I wouldn’t be shocked if it’s another sweep.”

The second game of this heated NBA Playoffs clash saw Anthony Davis notch 32 points. He did so on an insane 73.7% field goal percentage. The Lakers big man then went on to grab 11 rebounds while also recording a steal and a block. It was a masterclass that was tarnished by a 101 to 99 loss.

So, this left some fans to point fingers at LeBron James after that game-winner, “Lebron is responsible for Murray finishing the Lakers at the last second. He had to reserve the last play of the game, with a much safer shot. Then, either the Lakers won or they went to overtime. But, what cannot be is that you let Denver have the last shot to finish you off.”

Lakers let an opportunity slip away

The Lakers still had a 10-point lead entering the fourth quarter. Everything was going fairly well for them until Murphy’s Law hit. Shots were being passed up and some schemes on defense left some fans scratching their heads. At the end of it all, Anthony Davis and the rest of Darvin Ham’s squad could not find any sort of rhythm on offense either. So, the Nuggets took advantage by scoring 30 while the Lakers only notched 20 entering the final possession.

The game could have been done had they left only a small amount of time in the game clock. But, the lapses started to build up and the final buzzer sounded as Jamal Murray swished the ball to make the Nuggets fans erupt.

Nikola Jokic ended up with 27 points, 20 rebounds, 10 assists, and the last laugh. There are a lot of things to re-evaluate for the Lakers such that they get back into this NBA Playoffs matchup.
